Our Story

Mr. Taylor Gee founded the Pants Store in 1950 in downtown Leeds, AL. Taylor Gee started as a pant jobber, climbing into his Mercury to drive the Southeast selling his pants to retailers. Eventually, people began shopping his warehouse in Leeds and milling through his pant bins. It was the people of Leeds themselves who named it "The Pants Store." Taylor Gee famously said, "They started buying pants from me and they just called it 'The Pants Store'."

While we started by carrying industrial clothing, we have evolved into a premier destination for clothing, shoes, and accessories for the whole family. Today, we are proud to be the region's top source for sought-after brands like New Balance, Hoka, and Birkenstock, as well as SEC Gameday fashion for college students across the South.

The people of Leeds and the surrounding Birmingham area have come to know and trust The Pants Store for the lowest prices and best customer service. This commitment to excellence was recently recognized by the Alabama Retail Association, which named us the Silver Retailer of the Year.

The Pants Store has since expanded to seven locations (Leeds, Crestline, Hoover, Huntsville, Florence, and our flagship college-town locations in Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and Oxford, MS).

Today, the business is still family-run by Taylor Gee's grandsons, Michael Gee and John Gee. Their goals remain the same: to always put the customer first and ensure their absolute satisfaction.
